WiMAX operators meet in Taiwan to draft global roaming agreements

Jan 13, 2011 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- The WiMAX Forum, an industry-led not-for-profit organisation, announced yesterday that 16 WiMAX operators from around the world have gathered in Taipei to draft roaming agreements.

The aim is to bring consumers one step closer to true global roaming on 4G networks.

The first WiMAX Forum Global Operator Summit was intended to serve as an interactive working event for service providers, allowing them to gain a firm understanding of roaming opportunities and how to build a best-in-class framework for execution.

According to Informa Telecoms & Media, revenues from global roaming are expected to grow by 86% over the next five years to reach USD67bn by 2015.
