Japan's Domestic 3D TV Shipments Hit 131,000 Units


Tokyo, Nov 11, 2010 (IRG via COMTEX) -- Japan's domestic shipments of 3D TVs reached 131,000 units in the April-September period, accounting for 1.3 percent of all flat-panel TVs shipped, according to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association.



3D TVs also comprised 4.1 percent of shipments of 37in models and above. The data covered Panasonic, Sony, Sharp and Toshiba and incorporated models requiring separately sold 3-D glasses. In terms 3D-capable personal computers, shipments were at 18,000 units in the June-September period, or 0.5 percent of total PC shipments. The data covered NEC, Fujitsu, Toshiba and Onkyo, which have launched 3D PCs since June.
