United Airlines Customers Nominate Best Employee Via United Mobile App

To encourage employees to put in their best efforts while serving customers and the company, United Airlines has announced the Outperform Recognition Program for employees.

Customers are encouraged to take part in the new program and nominate employees using United’s mobile app on Apple or Android (News - Alert) devices. More details can be found on the website, www.united.com/outperform.

Commenting on this new initiative, Jeff Smisek, president and CEO of United, said in a release, “At United we’re focused on creating a culture where everyone enjoys coming to work and gives excellent customer service because they want to. We’re committed to recognizing and rewarding our co-workers when they do an excellent job for our customers.”

It was revealed that United intends to reward prizes to customers for nominating the winning employees. Customers who are eligible to take part in this program must be MileagePlus members. They can nominate eligible employees for the rewards program for services rendered at the airport, on the phone, on a flight, or at other contact points when they are served by United and United Express personnel. They can use United’s mobile app that is available for Apple (News - Alert) and Android devices.

The Outperform Recognition Program launched on June 1, 2012 will last until September 30, 2012.

Company officials added that when this sweepstake ends and after future quarterly sweepstakes, United will pick 16 winning employees. These employees are expected to be chosen randomly from all the customer nominations received.

Selected employees will receive cash prizes, with one employee getting the top prize of $50,000. The top prize will be followed by three prizes of $25,000, $10,000, $5,000, and ten $2,500 prizes to other deserving employees.

In order to encourage customers to participate in the rewards program, United has announced that the customer whose nomination is picked for the employee Grand Prize will also win a voucher for two round-trip first-class tickets. The tickets will be valid for U.S. travel, excluding Alaska and Hawaii, or for two round trip economy tickets for international travel to destinations served by United. More prizes will be given to customers in the form of frequent flyer mileage awards, added officials.
